Get your mind Right!!

Get Your Mind Right
If you were to ask me the most important quality you needed to be a successful CrossFit athlete, I'd say Mental toughness without hesitation. Above all others this attribute stands alone for me. You can be the most talented person in the world but without the toughness to persevere it means nothing. Take this toughness to the box and push the limits of your body. If you wanna make change and get better sometimes you gotta throw yourself in the deep end and find out what your made of.

Thoughts on the Open- Heres the 2nd WOD
30 Snatch (M 75 / F 45 lbs)
30 Snatch (M 135 / F 75 lbs)
30 Snatch (M 165 / F 100 lbs)
Max Rep Snatch (M 210 / F 120 lbs)

Last week was a all out body weight exercise. Very little skill to perform this movement. The lighter endurance athletes owned the first week, putting up some ridiculous numbers. Think I saw some dude from Russia put up a 161. Jesus... This week is quite the opposite, lots of strength and one of the most technical lifts in CrossFit. I guess they heard the cries from the big guys. Im taking this beast on tomorrow at 11:30. My mind is right...Game time!!

1. There was 5.7million burpees done around the world for the first open WOD. I think thats enough to retire the movement forever. All in favor??? I!!

2. Come on out to CFRR at 11:30 to watch us hit the open WOD. Gonna be pure madness.

3. Reborn Challengers- About one week left!!! Don't leave results on the table. Finish!!

4. LEGIT Strength get ready for this

GUT CHECK

GUT CHECK
CrossFit Open- As coaches we have been preparing ourselves to take it to the next level this year. Hours of hardcore training, we have been perfecting our craft from muscle ups to overheads squats. WOD #1 comes out- 7min of Burpees. A monkey could do this workout. Fall down and get back up for seven minutes...what the hell??? At first I was pissed, but then when I started to think about it, it all makes sense. To go to regionals isn't just showing and trying hard, its about giving everything you got and then some to be in the top 60. This WOD is hardly about skill, its about guts. After 4min into this WOD it doesn't matter who you are, you are dog tired and have another 3 min to go. At this point, the playing field levels out and the people who want it the most go and take it. Purely a GUT CHECK. Saturday couldn't come fast enough. Im so ready to get this over with. 3..2..1 GO!!! Showtime!!!

American Ninja Warrior Casting-This should be fun and interesting. They are looking for personality and athletic ability. I got this!!! Not to mention I owned a pair of nunchucks when I was a kid...Ha!! Im sending in a casting tape to get on this. They are coming to Dallas and sent out a email looking for talent. Take a look at this stuff, its awesome!!

Team LEGIT- I know I say it a lot, but I can't be more proud of my Challenge team. Dedicated, relentless, and of course LEGIT, these are just a few of the words to describe my peeps. I've seen not only results, but transformations in my Team. We got a few weeks left and I can't wait to see the end result.
Too LEGIT to Quit.

Lastly, speaking of gut checks. Shout out to Jonathan of the 6:45 for his 91 burpees. It was unbelievable to watch him battle this WOD. Heart of a LION

LEGIT STRENGTH and some deep thoughts

LEGIT STRENGTH
Overcome with Strength

I put it "BIG" and in all CAPS cause thats what it is. This is the first specialty class CFFR is offering and its a program that can take your CrossFit to the next level. If you really wanna step outside of your normal WOD routine this is something you can't miss out on. One goal- Make a stronger CrossFitter. Period. If you have been to any CrossFit comp lately you have noticed the strength movement. CrossFit is branching out and its asking more and more from its Athletes. RX weight is climbing seems like by the day and other unconventional means of strength are showing up in WODs. This class is a must if you wanna gain strength and get insane results. Registration will open up this coming Monday and the first class will kick off on Feb, 28th. Class is capped at the first 8 to sign up. Don't miss this opportunity. Spots will fill fast.

Misconceptions- This is not a meat head class. Yes, we will pick up heavy stuff, and tell you about it, but this class will build a Athlete, not the worlds strongest man. We wanna be balanced, that means being to pick up a heavy barbell but also be able to lift your body weight in many different applications. A essential combo for anyone that is looking to compete. This is not just a class for the strongest members at CFRR. If strength is holding you back, there couldn't be a better program for you. You wanna get better?? Work on your weaknesses. Ladies- Yes, im calling you out!!! This is not a guys only class. If you wanna take the next step in training you can't pass on this.

Sectionals- Today the coaches will be re-testing a WOD from last year to check our progress from a year ago. Its good to feel like you have made improvements over the last year but to actually see them right in front you is a great feeling. I know im a hell of a lot better from last year, but I wanna see it really show. So today is kinda a BIG DEAL as Ron Burgandy would say.

Shout outs-
Coach Aggie- I don't think people understand how hard we work, not only at bettering CFRR but improving ourselves as CrossFit Athletes. We have been busting our ass in the box since last year to prepare for this years CrossFit open. So its hard to put in so much and get sidelined with a injury. Get well Aggie, keep your head up, and we pray for a speedy recovery for you. A TEAM!!!

My REBORN Challenge Team-
LBS-47 lost
BF-15.5% Lost
Inches-35 lost.........Boom!!!!

TO LEGIT TO QUIT!! NUFF SAID

Lastly, LEGIT video #2 is being posted today and yes, there are some bicep curls in there lol.

INSPIRING

INSPIRING

If you ever think you have it tough Check this Vid out

This is one of the most inspiring things I have ever seen. Talk about a having a positive outlook. This guy faces more challenges in the first 10min of his day than most of us have in a entire month. Not to mention he just Beast-ed a CrossFit WOD and has aspirations to become a MMA fighter. It takes a moment like this to realize that anything really is possible. Optimism and the drive to conquer n achieve cannot be undervalued. Try and take this approach to your day and your workouts. Tap into your potential and SIC EM!!

Randomness
1. Congrats to the Giants I guess, they stumbled through another regular season and got hot at the right time. Yeah, im bitter. Would of loved to see a Ravens vs 49ers game.

2. I will be launching "LEGIT" Strength next month. This will be CrossFit class based solely on making a stronger CrossFit Athlete through all applications. Theres a strength movement in CrossFit right now, Athletes are required to lift heavier weight than ever before. If your strength holds you back in the box there's no excuse to not be in this class. More info to be released.

3. My Reborn Challenge Team is on fire!! LEGIT is not just a name...my peeps are the real deal. BoomSauce!!

4. Sneak peek into the WOD today- 10RDS baby!!

5. There really are no excuses. You want something, Got Get it. Period.

24 days and counting

24 Days
CrossFit sectionals are coming up just around the corner and I couldn't be more excited. On Feb, 22 CrossFitters around the world will be starting their 6 week journey to try and qualify for Regionals competition. Elite, to Intermediate, to beginners will be giving their best shot at these killer WODs but only 60 from each region will make the cut. Last year I was a rookie in the open and finished right outside the top 60. I had a lot of holes in my game last year. Rings were foreign to me, nutrition was a afterthought, and my endurance was very average. Consistency across pathways and movements was my issue. I could move a barbell no problem but would struggle on any gymnastic movement and if your not a balanced athlete in this game you don't stand a chance. Quickly I learned I had to complete my game. Working on my weaknessess would be key if I wanted to better myself. I started training not just to train but to become better. Mission #1 Endurance- Trained my butt off and Completed the 70.3 Iron Man in October and concentrated on pace, breathing, and success in my longer WODs. Check!! Mission #2 Nutrition-Stopped eating junk and started eating for fuel. Lots of trial and error on the foods I was taking in but I found my balance. Check!! Mission #3 gymnastics- Rings have always been my cryptonite, but like anything else practicing over and over again and you get better. I did these movements again and again until I got them down. I could do 2 muscle ups in a row last year, now I can do 10. Check!! We are a little under a month away and im lean mean and hungry for this year sectionals to kick off. Consistent across all pathways and movements?? You damn right I am!! Im ready to break out the Boomsauce!!!!

FiTTest Games from a Spectator

This last weekend the FiTTest Games were in town and the atmosphere was ELECTRIC in the compound. The rustic building and the Yard with all its scrap added some rawness that embodied the spirit of CrossFit. Athletes across the states came together to compete. There was CrossFit games competitors but also first time competitors making a appearance. The experience was vast between competitors but the mission was the same, Win. Walking through the cramped main hall seeing people downing coconut water, broad jumping up and down, talking WOD strategy, fresh kicks and highs socks as far as the eye could see. Yeah, it was awesome and I'm glad to be a part of this community. Nothing quite like it. I started to get that nervous sweat before I compete but then remembered I was there to coach. Landon, Aggie, Anna, and Dom were inspiring, and had a outstanding outing. Proud of these guys for sure. I don't think people realize how stressful and hard it is to sign up for one of these things. I mean, what other Sport do you not know what your doing till the day before?? Its tough to prepare for "X". Overall couldn't be more proud of our CFRR team. They fought all day long and impressed throughout the day. I heard there was 30 something people that had stopped by during the competition to support our team. Unbelievable the support and love we have from our members, thank you guys. Overall, great event, great showing, and great Support.

Randomness-
1. CrossFit sectionals is one month away. So pumped at this opportunity. Lights out!!!
2. Poor 49ers and Ravens, both had critical mistakes in the last couple mins. Cost em the Super Bowl.
3. Team Legit!! My Reborn challenge team is owning it!! Results will be mind blowing.
